What Is Civil Litigation?
A business partner breaks an agreement. A customer refuses to pay. You or your company is served with a lawsuit. You are sued after a car accident and don't have insurance. Your dog bites someone, or someone else's dog bites you. These are all examples of disputes that can lead to civil litigation.
In California, civil litigation is the court process for resolving disputes between individuals, businesses, and other parties. It can involve an unpaid invoice, a disagreement over who owns or controls a business, property damage, or an injury. A civil lawsuit may seek payment for losses, enforcement of an agreement, or a court order requiring someone to take or stop a particular action.
I'm Michael P. Kade, and I've been litigating civil cases in Southern California courts since 1999. My firm represents individuals and businesses on both sides of a dispute. We help clients bring claims to enforce their rights and defend them when someone brings a claim against them.
Some disputes can be resolved through negotiation or mediation. Others need to be decided in court. We'll help you understand where you stand, what options you have, and what to do next.
